Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions regarding cakes or placing an order. We can hold a telephone consultation or alternatively we can meet at a suitable time and talk through your thoughts and ideas in person. For those of you that are very busy or have children I do provide a private service, which would mean I can come to you for the consultation. Some people prefer this as it is a comfortable environment for you to discuss your ideas with me. The cost of coming to you would simply be incorporated in to the cost of your order should you decide to. Before a consultation it would be a good idea to collect any pictures you may have seen which you like. You will of course have the option of adjusting the design of a cake you have seen on the website.

If you would like to order from Cakes by Joanna, we would advise you to order as far in advance as possible. It is preferable to have at least 3-4 months notice especially in the height of the summer months when it is busier. If the cake is just a one or two tier celebration cake, it is more likely that it can be completed in a shorter time scale depending on the schedule; so please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Cakes by Joanna requires one third of the value of the cake as the initial payment. Once the funds have cleared, the other two thirds will be required two weeks before completion. Payment can be made by BACS transfer, cheque, cash or PayPal. You can of course pay the full amount in the first payment if you wish to. This can sometimes make it easier especially if we are delivering directly to the venue.

If for any reason you decide you need to cancel your order the first payment made is non refundable if it is less than four weeks notice of your celebration date. If you cancel before the final four weeks, half of the first payment will be reimbursed.

A small amount of changes to the design can be made but only with at least three weeks’ notice. Unfortunately we cannot guarantee that any changes to the design can be made after that as work may have already started on your cake.

Cakes by Joanna is happy to deliver your cake to your venue or home. A delivery cost is charged calculated by the distance and time it takes to deliver the cake. We can arrange for the cake to be collected but please note that we will not be held accountable for any damage caused to the cake following collection.

Some fresh flowers are toxic and cannot be used on cakes. It is therefore advised that you check with your florist if you would like to have your chosen wedding flowers on your cake as well. Cakes by Joanna is happy to liaise directly with your chosen florist with regards to putting the flowers on the cake at the venue.

Each cake will be sent out with a finished check list. The check list will provide essential details about the cake including details of how best to cut it, ingredients to be aware of which may cause allergic reactions, if there are any non-edible materials used for decoration and how to best store the cake.

Please don’t store the cake in the fridge, as this will only make the cake sweat and the buttercream potentially melt when removed from the fridge. Once the cake is covered, making it air tight it can be kept at room temperature without any problems. If it’s a warm day, try and keep it out of direct sun light in order for the buttercream or any chocolate not to melt.
